The Final Countdown and Thanks to Sponsors
Things were very tight not and if that wasn’t a close enough call, it was now only four days or so till the case needed to start its 800 mile journey to CeBIT in Germany and I still didn’t have any graphics cards.
Zotac literally pulled out all the stops and was luckily able to have three of the new GTX 295 Infinity Series graphics cards shipped to me in the UK. Two of these actually came direct to me but the only problem was that they weren’t actually assembled to the water blocks so another day was spent getting them mounted and installed. This isn’t rocket science, but did take up some valuable time so talk about cutting things fine!
Eventually I was able to fill both cooling loops without incident using Feser One red coolant for the CPU loop and Feser One black coolant for the GPU loop. However, rather than go for UV lighting, I decided to use only one top mounted white cathode to light the interior of the case giving a more overall ambient light to show the components a little better, especially through the blacked out window.
As mentioned earlier, filling was an absolute breeze without any leaks or mishaps whatsoever and, to my relief, temperatures were well within range to do some overclocking at a later date. The CPU was idling at just over 30°C and GPUs at just over 40°C.
So, all in all, yet another great fun project to work on even though it has added a few more grey hairs courtesy of Zotac. It all came good in the end though and I hope I managed to do all sponsors proud by creating something a little more unusual which, judging from the feedback received at CeBIT, it certainly seemed to do just that. Thanks again to all those that had faith and stuck by to see this one through.
Finally a big thank you to my sponsors:
as they have all helped to make this and my other projects possible!
